Haresfield is about 5 miles south of Gloucester and about 1 mile north of Standish Junction on the South West Main line.

It is mostly Pacers, Sprinters, Voyagers & HST's here. There is the occasional freight here including Oil Tanker trains to/from Westerleigh, Coal from Avonmouth and the as required DRS flasks from both Bridgewater & Berkeley. The best view is from the DOWN side of the crossing (opposite the pub) as this is at the apex of a long curve. You also get good advance warning of approaching trains from the lights on the foot crossing.

The location is a foot crossing at the end of Haresfield village and crossing is right next to the Beacon Pub & Hotel.

Directions (from all areas) :- Exit the M5 at Junction 12. Take the turning for Stonehouse & Stroud. You will see a very large garden centre on the right as you come off the roundabouts at the top of junction 12. Almost immediately after you come off the junction, turn left (opposite the garden centre) into a lane which takes you parallel to the M5. Follow this road until you get to a T Junction. Turn right at the junction. Go over the railway bridge and turn immediately right after the bridge at Haresfield School. Follow the road until you reach the Beacon pub. The UP side of the crossing will be right in from of you. Beware, Parking is limited near the crossing and Network Rail need access to a gate here so don't block the gate.
