Last station east of Severn Tunnel (between Patchway and Severn Tunnel Junction). Three roads through station: up main, down main and down goods. Also up goods which ends 100 yards to west of platforms. Pedestrian overbridge provides good views down to Green Lane Tunnel, about 1.5 miles away(note - not Severn Tunnel, which is further away). In up direction can see as far as former Catybrook signal box, about 1.5 miles (amost but not quite Patchway tunnel). When freight trains pull out of up goods line and morning sun is behind the photographer great shots can be had.

Normal pattern of working. Class 43 HSTs two per hour each direction, loads of units on South Wales to Portsmouth, Bristol and Taunton workings. More interestingly, about eight freight workings each way per day - mainly 66s with the occasional 70 & 60. Don't bother to travel to Pilning by train - FGW have cut back services to two trains a week! Both on a Saturday. Car park is free and empty! Plough Public House 100yds away and serves Wadworths 6X and does reasonable food. If you sit strategically in beer garden you can still see trains going by.
