Immingham railfreight terminal has seen considerable activity over the last eighteen months with the scrapping taking place there of Class 303, 308, 310 and various southern units. Also scrapped have been a number of ex Virgin 86's and the site still houses some that are in long term storage.
There are a few vantage points the best is situated off Queens road which is the main 45 bus route onto Immingham docks. The bus route also passes Immingham TMD. After passing the TMD, carry on Queens road round the bend to just past the Cleanaway tip. Immediately past this is a patch of waste ground on the right and you can see the railfreight terminal about half a mile away. If you walk up a slight hill and over the waste ground, you can walk down the side of the railfreight terminal viewing anything there at the time. BEWARE there is a lot of long grass so don't go down in your sunday best!!! Another vatage point is netherlands way on Stallingborough industrial estate. You can get right down to the main gate here but numbers are limited due to other company yards and articulated trailers being in the way. The other vantage point is the other end of the industrial estate, Europa Way. From here you can observe anything that has recently arrived onsite either for storage or scrapping.
There are plenty of food establishments available in Immingham town centre, but if its quick snacks your after then you can't go wrong at the Queens Road cafe situated just past the Oaklands bus garage.
