The depot can be viewed from trains passing on the Wolverhampton - Telford line; you only need travel as far as Bilbrook station ( 5-1`0 minute journey ). The shunter is usually on the left had side after leaving Wolverhampton, but can be on the right, and/or obscured by carriages.

To view from the road, leave the centre of Wolverhampton northwards on the A449 to Stafford and after passing under the Telford line, turn left at the next roundabout into Gorsebrook Road and under the impressive viaduct (this should be signposted to the Dunstall Park racecourse). Take the first right into Dunstall Park (road) and follow this to the end to enter Dunstall Park itself. The shunter is sometimes visible up on the right, just after you have entered the Park. Winter is best when there are no leaves on the trees. Binoculars required.

For restricted views of the other side of the depot, return to the roundabout and turn left onto the A449 and take the first left into South Street. Turn right at the end into Jones Road, and right up the hill into The Downs. Follow this round to the left into Snowdon Way, and views of the depot can be had through the trees from the end of this cul-de-sac (winter best). Restricted views of the depot may also be possible from the end of Sidlaw Close, but the way may be blocked by a locked gate.
