Standish Junction is an exposed spot right above the the point where the Gloucester to Swindon line and the South West mainline diverge. Long views southbound, with shorter views towards Gloucester and along the swindon branch. Usual DMU & HST traffic here with a couple of freights per day (mainly Tanks from westerleigh) and upto to 2 as required DRS nuclear flasks per week. Good location to photographing and videoing specials and gets very busy with enthusiasts at these times.

Nearest food and drink is in Stonehouse about 1 mile away.

NOTE :- You can only reach this by driving along a badly rutted bridle path. If coming from all directions (except from stonehouse), M5 to jct 12, head for stonehouse for a couple of miles. Pass a church on the right then over the railway. About 1/3 mile after railway bridge, the bridle path is on the right. If you reach the roundabout at the edge of Stonehouse you need to turn around.
