Port Talbot Parkway Station is situated on the mainline Swansea to London Paddington and is managed by Arriva Trains Wales.
There are no catering facilities available, however there is a pub adjacent to the level crossing at the east end of the platform. A small free short term car park is available outside the main entrance building.
The station has two central placed platforms, with passing lines on either side for freight workings.
This is a great station for seeing any freight workings to West Wales, BP Baglan Bay and BP Llandarcy which lies just a few miles down the track heading west.
Passenger workings include traction from FGW HST, 180 and ATW DMU's fleet. During the peak summmer months, ATW's Rhymney - Fishguard Harbour Class 37 working, passes through the station but doesn't stop.
Unfortunately, since the station is located west of Margam TMD, you don't see an abundance of light loco workings.
On a good day you get to see Freightliner's 47 & 66, EWS 37, 60 & 66 and basically everything that heads towards Swansea and West Wales.
