if you park on the south side of the bridge which runs over the yard there is a farm track behind new housing and by standing on the fence you can get a good look at the stabled loco's my last visit was nov 04 and with a low lieing sun you are blinded when you go to the water tower on the north side of the yard ,locos seen where tranrail 37's load haul 56's + many 47/56's i have also observed freightliner heavy haul cl 66 movement
The yard is situated between Wakefield and Huddersfield and contains several 58s and 47s which are stored along with between 5 and 15 other locos which stable there. Viewing them from the passing trains can be awkward as the loco is usualy left attatched to its train in the middle of the yard. There is a footpath runs alongside the yard and some locos can be seen from here near the old water tower - remember this is railway property but they usualy turn a blind eye. There is a real ale pub which serves good food at the west end of the path , but other than that no refreshments nearby. Worth a visit !
