I tend to disagree, Warrington isn't much (or any) busier in the evening than it is in the daytime. The stabling points now only contain 60s, 66s (loads) and very occasional 92s. Virgin have appeared to cease sending 57 thunderbirds to Warrington.

Check out the 'Warrington Bank Quay station'. It has the best report for Warrington.

Class 59's are based at Arpley for coal traffic from Warrington to Liverpool. An 08 and 09 carry out all the shunting at Arpley of enterprise wagons. Numerous 08s, 37s and occasional other locos are stored (withdrawn) in the yard. 90s and 86s pass through at night on freight and sleepers.
All southbound EWS freight stops for a crew change. The time it takes to crew change can vary between a few seconds and 5+ hours.

The station surroundings are very depressing.

This place comes to life from evening onwards but even in the daytime there are a few freight movements to be seen. The stabling point can be seen from the south end of the station and normally contains 37s,56s,60s and 66s along with 4 x 08s. Passenger trains consist of Virgin 87/90 along with Pendelinos and Voyagers and North Western units.
There is a buffet on the station and a newsagents across the road.
