Getting to Peakdale.
There are 2 routes from the A6 which converge right next to the railway at Peakdale. Coming from Buxton & the South, take the first major right turn after the golf course towards `Batham Gate`. Follow this road on until you see the railway. This will be after a steep winding incline.
From the north, follow the A6 into the centre of Dove Holes. Here you will find a crossroads. Turn left at the crossroads & follow this road to its end.
By public transport: Trent service 199 operates hourly from Buxton and Stockport. There is also a 2-hourly service (190) operated by Bowers. www.derbysbus.net
Upon reaching Peak Dale, there is fairly limited parking. There is some hard-standing on the road junction next to the railway bridge which can accomodate 3 cars (when parked correctly). There is also a car park on the other side of the bridge which is attached to some flats. It is not signed as private but do beware!
Sightings.
Sightings are very possible if you stay on the side of the depot. There is a walk that runs parrallel to the sidings on the same side. To get to it, go up the hill to the bus-stop. Just after you will see a footpath sign & a break in the fence. Follow this footpath above the depot to get beyond. It is possible to walk to Great Rocks Jn using this path. If you need the toilet, you will find many options when using this path!
Facilities.
None on site. The nearest WMC is on the Buxton road. Obviously you may need a card to get in. There are many shops & pubs in both Dove Holes & Buxton which can be used.
Wet weather cover.
None.
