Although this station is as good as any for freight in the London area the comments of the previous reviewer should be taken seriously.I have never felt comfortable there when alone and know of one photographer who was mugged for a not very expensive camera so better go in a group.Food available around is all pretty disgusting so take your own.Reasonable for photography from the footbridge particularly the down direction with a telephoto.Eurostars and suburban electics in profusion on the outer lines.

I agree largely with Timbo but have never really felt at ease here. The station is very exposed with barely any shelter, no 'facilities' and a rather 'unpleasant' atmosphere about it.

Anyway, there's really only one shot for the photographer as pictures of westbound trains are all pretty awful.

I've always prefereed Olympia myself but I acknowledge that Wandsworth Road is the busier of the two generally speaking.

A very good place for freight. On my last visit freight trains were frequent(interspersed with Suburban traffic and Eurostars).
If you are at Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Road can be reached by buses 77 and 77A which stop outside the station.
For food, there is the choice of a sandwich bar(across the road from the station access) and a fried chicken cafe(on same side as station access)-I have to say the food from here is a bit dodgy and the sandwich bar might be preferable! Viewing is easy from either platform although the platform served by London Bridge trains(over the bridge)is the better of the two.
