The staion is very good to view trains with a lot of f/l traffic to Southampton docks,a yard with various freight/ballast traffic, a loco depot and works all close by.The station has toilets and a buffet serving tea/coffee mags, papers etc [ both of which are near the booking office]A waiting room is on the island platform which is where you near to be.A car park is next to the station cost 4.50,but 2.00 if you buy a ticket within two hours of arrival in the car park.You can watch the trains from your car but you must park at the far end otherwise stopping trains will block your view.
