When reaching this location, there is a crossing that goes across all lines leading into Knuckle Yard from the west, including Corus. This is a public footpath so feel free to walk across the whole yard complex ensuring you do not leave the footpath, which is 10 ft wide. Can gain views of the fuelling lines at the rear of the yard and take photo's.Take care not to stand still on lines when taking photo's and when finished walk back to parking area.If a train enters from the west, you will see it as you will all passing trains. If a train enters from the east, take another walk along the footpath!!!..Martin Harrison

This location is a crossing right next to the main Swansea to Cardiff line, at the western edge of the Margam yard.
Leave the M4 at J38 and take the exit sign-posted to Margam Crematorium. The road is signed Longland Lane. Continue on this road past the BOC plant until you get to the crossing. You can park at this location.
From this position, a rough track heads off east parallel with the main line and joins up with a large grass bank on the left. This bank is the retaining wall of a reservoir. There are places to leave the car. A few paths give access to the top of this bank. This location gives better views of traffic entering and leaving the yard from the east. From the eastern end of the reservoir wall, with binoculars you have a slight view of the depot. BEWARE - the water is deep!
There are no facilities at this location.

UPDATE 1/9/06

Visited the crossing today and discovered that the rough track that leads to the reservoir has been closed off with metal fencing.
