Stirling Station has not changed greatly since steam days - I was first there in 1960 - a large and busy station with four through platforms and a number of bays.

Main passenger services are: southbound to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and northbound (local) services to Dunblane and Alloa and (fast) services via Perth to Aberdeen and Inverness. Stock is mostly 158's and 170's.

There is one daily HST service Inverness to Kings Cross (& return) and the nightly 67-hauled sleeper between Inverness and Edinburgh / Euston.

Freight has increased recently with the coal traffic to Longannet PS diverted via Stirling (and Alloa) instead of the Forth Bridge: something like a dozen trains a day. Plus occasional long distance freight between Mossend / Grangemouth and Aberdeen / Inverness. All regular freight services are I think 66-hauled.

Apart from eating facilities in the main station building, the town centre is close by with the usual array of restaurants / coffee bars etc.
