Place to stay:

There is a Travelodge which is about 10 mins walk from Queens St (G3 6RP).

Food/pubs:

There is Camperdown Place underneath the station & walk straght out of that one across the road to Queens St on your right at the next junction you have the Counting House(both Wetherspoons)there are also about 1000 chippy`s/Greggs around Glasgow. There is also a good pub on the way to the Travelodge called The Horseshoe Bar (G2 5AE),the Travelodge also has a good chippy outside that does breakfasts as well.

Excellent station and very friendly staff, asked duty manager if i could photograph from end of platform,as all platforms have ticket barriers,no problem at all,and he actually advised me that platform 4 was best for photos.
You will see class 156/158/170.though mostly 170.
Plenty of food outlets by station entrance.
Well worth a visit very busy morning and evening.
No freight at this station.

If you are after 170/4's, 156's and 158's this is a good place to hang out. It's very busy during the morning and evening peaks but there are barriers to gain access to the platforms so you must have a valid ticket.

Th longest platform is platform 4 and you can normally get some good pictures of the trains arriving from the tunnel.

If you are spending the day in the Glasgow area you can get a Roundabout ticket which allows unlimited access from 9:00 weekdays and no restrictions during the weekend to the Glasgow area. You can go out to Cumbernauld, Motherwell, Aidrie, Dumbarton or Paisley.

Alternatively you can get a daytripper ticket which is unlimited access to buses and trains in the WHOLE Strathclyde area. Time restrictions are the same as a Roundabout ticket.

In terms of parking the St Enoch shopping centre is not far away with expensive parking but I'd suggest parking out of town and getting the train in from one of the above tickets.

There is a Burger King on the concourse and no shortage of restaurants in the City Centre, especially round Sauciehall Street. There is also a Sainsbury's Local in the nearby Buchanan Galleries.
