Nothing really changed since 2005.

However to gain views of the Down Yard follow the road that leads from the car park adjacent to the yard.

Some workings are known to take the avoider....in the main this is IETs that pass in each direction just after the hour...but can include some stone workings if it is not necessary to access the station area for a crew change.

These can be viewed by leaving the station and walking down to the Railway Inn...here you can get well priced food and drinks and sit in the pub garden to view the passing trains...the pub is run by a local DB driver and his family.

Colas have a small depot and this can be viewed from the end of the station platform which is being extended to take you even closer to their stabling area....DB have a train crew depot so their engines are present but this will change in November 2019 when Freightliner take over all the stone workings from Merehead and Whatley Quarries.

This will greatly diminish the DB presence in the area....no reduction in trains...in fact this may increase as Freightliner are proposing more trains of smaller length so they do not have to access and split workings in Acton Yard...which is owned by DB.
