London Liverpool Street underwent a modernisation programme in the 1980's which saw the partial rebuild of the station's right-hand side, resulting in the construction of an office block and the provision of modernised facilities such as food outlets and lavatories. Most platforms have been fitted with ticket barriers, thus it is best to possess a London Travelcard to bypass these. Platforms which serve the long distance 'Anglia' services do not have ticket barriers, but one needs to be wary of the officials. There is quite a range of commuter and long-distance traffic which serves the station, although the latter appears only to use two platforms. Stock seen at the station ranges from the commuter classes 314, 315 and 317, to the long distance Class 90 hauled Mk 2 coach stock of Anglia services.
You cant see all the trains at Liv Street (without walking the marathon), due to the barriers and station walls. Go to Bethnal Green and everything can be seen passing through. Very busy (peak times best).
