Not much seams to have changed since the last review. Very much end of the line stuff. One to tick off the list if you're into stations.

Not much ever happens at Oban. The two platforms, 3&4 are the ones built for the Balahulish branch at the turn of the last century and are, regretably all that remains of a once fine station. There is not much traffic here nowadays (unlike the days of steam when there were both numerious passenger and a thriving goods traffic using the station!), only class 156's (3 a day during winter and 4 on busy sommer saturdays)
There are the occasional railtours double headed by 37's but thats it!
It is a treat to be able to watch how they run these beasts round though!
There is a small fish stall outside mccaigs wharehouse during the summer, and tex mex resteraunt a few yards from the platforms, but seeing as there is soo much time, you are as best going into town for a chippy!
Access is easy and unrestricted, except when they shut off platform 3 (I think) to wash and service the train before departure.
The Isle of Mull miniature railway is much more interesting though, and well worth a visit!
