A new update re the yard here. Work looks like it is nearing completion and the movements have settled down to an almost regular pattern. The two morning trains have now been reduced to just the one, arriving early and departing around 1100. However there is now an afternoon train which is normally here around 1700. I am not sure of an arrival or departure tiem, and it is not daily.
Also the shunting movement seems to have been changed with the loco now pulling the wagons through the new unloading bay, as apposed to propelling as in the past. What this does mean is the loco is now difficult to see from the main line as it is hidden behind the station buildings for most of its visit. It then moves into the new shunt neck before running round he train, pulling it into the down siding and propelling it back into the platform to depart.

Additional info for this location.

The sidings are currently being upgraded and the normal two trains a day are currently revised, with movements being very sporadic and at any time of the day. I will endevour to update this once the work is finished and a more regular pattern has emerged.

Purley is a couple of miles south of East Croydon on the Brighton main line. Main operator is Southern with class 375, 455 and 456's on stopping services along with South Eastern 375 and 508's. Pleanty of passing services operated by Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Southern. There is also sidings here used for aggregates trains. Normally there are two trains in the yard from early morning until around midday Mon - Fri. Normal stock used are 59 and 66's. Use to get 60's as well but not seen any here for a while now. Also passing through are the trains going to and from Crawley New Yard and the occaisional trips to Three Bridges Yard and Ardingly. Also some diversions via the Tonbridge line and Redhill.
