Ipswich station is a good location for spotters and photographers. The regular running NXEA servies between London Liverpool Street and Norwich hauled by class 90s. Other services include short felixstowe return trips, Peterborough, camebridge and lowerstoft. The station is located not too far from the town centre, but there are shops available on the station. A pumpkin cafe shop on platform 2 with waiting rooms and other small cafe/shops available on platforms 2 and 3. A WHSmiths is located the otherside of the ticket barriers. For train vareity Ipswich is one of suprises as it has the regular intermodal services heading to and from felixstowe heading to and from london areas.
There is a intermodal yard at the end of the station which you pass as entering the station from areas such as peterborough and norwich. Alongside platforms 3 and 4 is the stabling point which is home to mainly freightliner 66s, but also 70s, 86s and 90s.
There are regular freight workings including EWS working with intermodals and small fuel tanks. Aswell as GBRF intermodal services and north walsham fuel tanks. Finally the occasional DRS 37/20 workin from siizewell with nuclear flask train.
passenger units include 170, 153, 156, 321 and 317 units.
A good loaction in general as photography can be taken on the platform and also from large shots from the stairwell of the car park outside the station.
All in all a good place for freight and passenger workings alike.

Ipswich is served by Anglia and Great Eastern with 150,153,170 and 86s operating for Anglia.
There is a busy yard just north of the station which handles Liner traffic along with a depot next to the station used by Liner only. The depot normaly has a fair number of locos present including 47,57,66,86 and 90s.
This is the best location in Anglia to see freight.
Theres a buffet on the station but the town centre is a fair walk away.
