Allerton depot is now closed and being cleared. That was the original plan but Northern have taken it over and the area is being prepared for the future use of the class 319's when they get cascaded.

Allerton TMD is a railway traction maintenance depot situated in Liverpool. Original very difficult to view but the depot is opposite the newly built Liverpool South Parkway and is visible to the north on the way to Hunts Cross. The depot is operated by EWS. The depot code is AN.

Until 2006, Merseyrail Class 507 and Class 508 sets were regularly sent to this depot for wheel turning. A new wheel lathe has opened at Kirkdale TMD thus ending the practice of sending units here.

Other units, including Virgin Voyager (Classes 220/221) and goods engines have been stabled here.
