Eastleigh is a good weekday location averaging 3-4 freights an hour Tuesday-Thursday and around 2 an hour on Monday and Friday.

Diesel classes
08, 09, 59, 60, 66, 73, 158 and odd 159

Electric
377, 442 (wednesdays only), 444, 450

Companies
EWS, Freightliner, GBRf, SWT, Southern, NWR (FGW during diversions)
shop on the station, good thing to know is that a regular drink is 50p to enthusiasts depending whos working (platform 1 shop). The sandwich shop just round the corner is good, if going regular ask for a loyalty card 10 stamps=free sandwich.

Saturdays
OK around a freight per hour
During engineering work between St Denys and Fareham alot of traffic diverts to eastleigh and reverses in the station bringing FGW 158s and 150s in. Same for sundays although only freight that is regular is the Yar-MPD trip working (08 or 09+5-6 wagons)

While in town why not go to the eastleigh lake railway around halfway between Eastleigh and Southampton Airport Parkway.

Notable workings
5 freights on a wednesday between 19:00 and 20:00, 59 and 4 66s
19:02 class 59 on aggregate TUE, WED, THU as required
around 16:00 only 377 service of the day
2 testing run paths exist on wednesday for 442 units in store at works
afternoon MOD stores oftern 60 hauled

Always worth a visit never know what could be heading for the works, have scene 31s am=nd 37s or route learners and NWR work as well as alot of on track plant in the area
