I presume this is a reference to Stratford (London) rather than the 'upon Avon' variety.

Stratford London is possibly the most confusing passenger train complex in the country, comprising eight separate services and about 20 Platforms. The following is an approximation of what happens.

Platforms 1 & 2: DLR to Canary Wharf.

Platforms 3 & 4: Central Line westbound.

Platforms 5: slow line to London Liverpool Street.

Platforms 6 & 7: Central Line eastbound.

Platforms 8: slow line to Shenfield (mainly).

Platforms 9 & 10: fast GE lines to and from Liverpool Street.

Platform 11: sees only occasional use.

Platform 12: terminus for services to / from Stansted Airport.

Platforms 13 & 14: NLL to Richmond / Clapham J.

Platforms 15 & 16: Jubilee Line terminus.

Also new DLR service operates from Stratford International to Canning Town / Beckton etc.
(not sure of Platform Nos at Stratford Main).

Finally, the Low Level Platforms at International Station for St Pancras / N Kent High Speed Route. Channel Tunnel services also pass through at speed!

In addition freight services operate in the area, some through the main station, others on by-pass lines.

The Station Cafe in the bus station outside Stratford is under new ownership. It is now called something like "Fabulous Food" but is mostly just a fast food outlet. A bit pointless really as there is a Burger King just over the road and the old "proper" cafe will be missed.

Stratford station is on the mainline heading out of Liverpool Street along the Great Eastern line. There are also interchanges with the North London line, the Jubilee Line, Central Line and Docklands Light Railway.

Most of the action on the main part of the station can be seen from platform 8 which extends quite a distance. From this platform you can get good shots of trains passing onto the North London Line.

Although there are quite a few trains that don't stop at the station they pass through fairly slowly so that you can get numbers of stock. You can also get good views of Central line and DLR stock arriving and departing if that's your bag.

For Jubilee line and North London line you will have to go down the stairs and across the concourse for these.

In terms of facilities there is a shopping centre a short distance away with supermarket and much more.
