Wellingborough Station is set on the Midland Mainline, the station is a rather attractive little place. The station doesn't have many facilities, other than a small but very friendly little kiosk that sells sandwiches, crisps, usual chocolate, coffee and tea etc. The staff seem to be OK as well, they don't mind someone watching the trains rumble pass.
Most traffic is Midland Mainline Stock, HST's and DEMU's 222's, you do get some good freight passing through, such as Bardon Bogies, Freightliner Hoppers, also the measurement train or Network Rail train shoots through, this usually a pair of 31's.
On the odd occasion usually early you might get a solo DRS 37 passing through.

There are three platforms, Number 1 for the north, to places such as Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield. Platform 2 is for London St.Pancras and platform 3 is only for passing freight. Platform 2/3 is best for viewing, northern end has a solo seat which is quite handy when there is nothing coming.

The station itself is ideal for photography, the tight bends at either end of the station make the fast through trains including Freightliner Hoppers etc great to watch and photograph.

The car park is large and there are usually spaces but you have to pay a daily fee of £5.50 which is a bit of a swindle, as most times I'm only on a flying visit, school runs etc (for those who have children!). I travel from Cambridge, the car is the only option.

Not sure of any chippie as it sits on the edge of the town, but ideal for those on a diet!
Overall a good place to go, great photography and location make it worthwhile.
