Parking is usually ok.You can park next to the taxi rank by platform 1.The waiting time says 20 minutes but in the dozens of times ive been there no one has ever checked my car.(You will also find that most of the Virgin station staff park there - naughty naught).Also if you are on the north end of the station your car is clearly visible to you.If you wish to sit in your car you can clearly see all southbound workings which is good whilst diversion is on as all working south of Crewe pass through Stoke during the day.
For photography the best place is platform 2 either north or south end although I prefer the north.When its sunny the sun is directly behind you which makes for some good shots.
Catering is ok on Stoke Station but if you walk up towards the college there is a chippie,pie shop and newsagents which are better value.
