Dartford is on a junction serving three routes from the London direction. The station is a four-platform 1970's rebuild which has now been fitted with ticket barriers and consists of a newsagent and coffee bar. The platforms are accessed via an enclosed footbridge. A substantial amount of the services on the North Kent Lines either begin or terminate at Dartford, with remaining trains running through to Gravesend and Gillingham. The passenger train classes seen do lack variety, being mostly Class 465 and 466 electric multiple units. Freightliner and EWS freight trains use the stretch of line through Dartford daily when travelling between Hoo Junction and Hither Green Depot. Sidings for stock are located to the east of the platforms and can clearly be seen from a passing train or the end of platforms 1 and 2. The whole complex is situated upon a viaduct. A taxi service is provided immediately outside the booking hall, whilst a bus stop is located on the adjacent main road.
