Situated on Anglesey, just after crossing the Menai Strait, on the line to Holyhead. There are two short platforms connected by a foot bridge. Signs giving the full name exist on both platforms. That on the Bangor bound side is an old sign high up on the old station house, now used as centre for a copper-ware gallery or similar. The one on the Holyhead bound side is a modern Arriva style example with a second line giving a phonetic pronunciation. There is a constant stream of tourist visiting the platform to take those "special" pictures of the signs.
Some local trains, but not all, are booked to stop on request. Probably less than one per hour.
To travel by road take the A5 after crossing the strait. Continue through the village towards Gaerwen & Holyhead. There is a visitor centre with a good sized free car park on the left hand side at the far end of the village. The station is accessed through a gate from the car park onto the Bangor bound platform. The visitor centre has retail outlets selling clothes, toys, DVDs, etc. There is an information centre attached. Toilets are inside at the very back and accessed through the restaurant. The is also a sign giving a translation of the name over the entrance to the centre.
Classes 158 & 175 appear to work the local trains. The is also the occasional Voyager or class 57 hauled Pendilino on Virgin worked services.
