dalwhinnie has about 100 residents,one hotel,one primary school,one DISTILLERY,one signal box,one loch,loch ericht,{fishing available}not many facilities here i'm afraid,if you like peace and solitude this is where it's at!also one filling station come post office come corner shop.[we didn't buy any petrol here,it was 101 a litre at aviemore!we stayed here last august and we,ve just got back from there now,and we,re definitely going back again!theres about 20 passenger trains a day+the occasional freight,being a wcml/furness/s/c man the liveries were a change,also the cl67s on the parcels,the am/pm hst.a cement train with a cl66/6 looked good as was a cl37 on a petrol train {i think}green tanks anyway.theres supposed to be a couple of others,but i think they are 'Q' trains.north of here is single track so some times trains are held at the sig box.there are semaphore signals here so you know whats happening.we stay at a cottage in 36 acres of heather above the line,about 100 yards from it actually!
