Occasionally get to go to Newark during work time....as the other review says, its not a bad place considering its size. Main problem is that majority of services don't stop, so with limited platform space can be difficult to get numbers and photos.

In last 4 visits I've not seen a freight but you get usual GNER stuff (43s, 91s, occasional 222s) as well as 153s on local services.

Perhaps most interesting bit about Newark is the crossing of GNER + local line; on this other line, local services see 153, 156 and 170 and there's a fair bit of freight too (60s and 66s).

Not a bad spot, but don't go out of your way to get there - Retford and Doncaster are better.

Not too bad for its size, sees a lot of GNER 43's and 91's. Also has 153's on the local services.
Freight wise it sees mainly 66's and 60's, probably about 4ish an hour, mainly tankers.

Overall it sees about 12 trains every hour on an avarage weekday.
