Farnham is on the Alton - Brookwood branch. Mainstay of the line are (as at Oct 2004) the Class 450 units. There is a depot here (about half a mile west of the station), which was home to the old 'slam door' units, but is being rebuilt to maintain the 450s.

We do get a regular (2-3 times per week) freight working to/from Holybourne oil terminal (about 2 miles north of Alton).

There are also a number of stock moves to/from the Watercress Line (Mid Hants Railway). They run their own specials and often supply stock/locos for the Cathedrals Express etc. There are also the occasional special train visiting the Mid Hants line, so you can see quite a variety of action here throughout the year for those brave souls keen enough to hang around the station area!!

Not a great location for the 'number cruncher', unless you have access to a working timetable and can plan a visit around a specific activity!
