As an alternative to taking a boat trip, it is possible to see the shunter at Fowey Docks from the opposite bank of the river - www.shunterspot.com gives the details of precisely where to go.
Not accessible to the public unless you hire a boat from Town Quay in Fowey and sail up river
a better bet is to go to Golant just upstream and take a leisurley drink at the Fishermans Arms and watch the 66 and CDAs roll past on the much photographed Golant Pill embankment
if you park at Golant keep an eye on your car as the tide WILL cover the road
